Message from the Division Director

Welcome to the Division of Hematology and Oncology at UMMC, where we pride ourselves on our commitment to innovation and excellence. We take a multidisciplinary approach to all cancer types, which allows us to tailor treatment plans to the unique needs of each patient.  As the only tertiary referral center in the state of Mississippi, we care for a diverse mix of common and rare hematologic and oncologic disorders.

We are proud to provide cutting-edge care to the residents of Mississippi and strive to ensure that each patient receives the best treatment possible for their diagnosis.   As the first in Mississippi to perform CAR-T treatment, we offer access to the latest technology in cancer care. We are the clinical arm of the Cancer Center and Research Institute, which unites physicians, nurses, and researchers from UMMC and beyond to better prevent, detect, and treat cancer.

Our participation in clinical trials ensures that our patients benefit from the most advanced treatment options available, all guided by the latest clinical guidelines. We are also proud to teach the next generation of hematology and oncology professionals, with nine fellows training in our program each year. By engaging in both clinical and academic endeavors, we create an environment that not only emphasizes exceptional patient care but also drives research and scholarship.
